In a chilling incident, the mutilated body of a 47-year-old man was discovered near the railway tracks at Naigaon station in Palghar district on Monday morning. The victim, identified as Bhagoji Uttekar, bore multiple stab wounds, prompting a swift response from the police, who have initiated a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrator.

Around 1:30 am, authorities received a distress call from a rickshaw driver reporting a gruesome sight near the mangroves outside the men’s toilet near the railway tracks. Upon reaching the location, police officers encountered a horrific scene—a man’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood. The victim’s driver’s license facilitated the identification process.
Identity of the Victim Revealed
The victim, Bhagoji Uttekar, a resident of Vasai employed in a factory in the Waliv area, met a brutal demise with stab wounds inflicted on his chest, shoulder, stomach, and other parts of his body. Senior Police Inspector Ramesh Bhame of Naigaon police station confirmed the registration of a murder case against an unknown assailant, emphasizing ongoing efforts to unveil the identity of the killer.
Family’s Agonizing Revelation
Uttekar’s brother, Raju Vasant Uttekar, provided a heart-wrenching account of the events leading to the discovery. Bhagoji had left home on Sunday for work but failed to return, prompting concerns. Raju, a rickshaw driver, expressed the family’s anguish, recounting their visit to Naigaon police station to file a missing person’s report. To their shock, the police revealed that a body matching Bhagoji’s description had been found. Upon visual confirmation, Raju painfully acknowledged the victim as his brother.
