Choosing STEM: A Path of Elimination
Even though Bavi came from a medical background, she chose to pursue engineering instead of medicine. Her choice at REC Warangal (now NIT) to major in computer engineering was the catalyst for an incredible 24-year career in technology.

She went from working as a coder at Wipro to working with Nokia on ground-breaking projects like the creation of the USB and Bluetooth core stacks. She moved into product management with ease and was really happy in the position.

Following her path, Bavi ended up at Microsoft, where she oversaw programmes to support Indian companies. Her contribution to the creation of a playbook for fostering new companies led to Microsoft using it as a model worldwide. As the head of the digital natives business unit, Bavi drives innovation and growth throughout the area with an emphasis on early-stage initiatives, growth, and unicorn companies.
