Infosys is shaking up the IT job market with its new ‘Power’ program, offering significantly higher salaries to fresh graduates. Traditionally, entry-level positions at Infosys offered pay packages between ₹3-3.5 lakh annually. However, the ‘Power’ program introduces a new tier of compensation, reaching up to ₹9 lakh per year.

According to a report by Economic Times, the ‘Power’ program targets recent graduates with specialized skills in coding and software development. This initiative is designed to attract top talent through rigorous skill assessments, including programming challenges and technical interviews. For the new program, Infosys is offering salaries ranging from ₹4-6.5 lakh to ₹9 lakh per annum, depending on the role and expertise.

In comparison, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has also launched a specialized hiring program called ‘Prime,’ which provides competitive salaries between ₹9-11 lakh annually for fresh graduates. TCS’s hiring categories include ‘Ninja,’ with packages around ₹3.6 lakh, ‘Digital’ at ₹7.5 lakh, and ‘Prime’ for higher-skilled positions.

Infosys plans to recruit between 15,000 and 20,000 graduates for the fiscal year 2025. Jayesh Sanghrajka, Infosys’ Chief Financial Officer, highlighted in the company’s Q1 earnings call that the firm is adopting an agile hiring strategy, focusing on both campus and off-campus recruitment.

This move comes at a time when major Indian IT companies are adjusting their workforce numbers. In 2024, the top five IT firms in India collectively reduced their employee count by over 70,000. While TCS added 5,452 employees in the June quarter, Infosys saw a decrease of nearly 2,000 employees from April to June. HCLTech also reported a reduction in new hires, adding 1,078 freshers in Q1 FY25 compared to 3,096 in the previous quarter.
