Women Entrepreneurs Propel Goa’s Startup Ecosystem
Women have emerged as a driving force in promoting innovation and growth within Goa’s startup ecosystem, according to the Department of Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications. According to department data, 33% of Goa’s 225 registered businesses were created by women entrepreneurs, much more than the national average of 18%.
Significant Contributions by Women Founders
Out of the 225 firms registered in Goa, 76 are female founders or co-founders, demonstrating women’s significant development in the IT industry and the larger startup ecosystem. ASIER Solutions, IAssist, Blurb Consultancy, Goenkart Digital World, Make it Happen, Tea Trunk, and Contracts are some of the well-known women-led enterprises. These firms generally engage in the hospitality and service industries.
Support from Incubators and Government Initiatives
Supriya Malladad, the creator of Rachane Engineering Solutions, stressed the importance of the FiiRE Incubation Centre and the Goa Startup Mission in offering hospitality-specific support. “Our startup provides solutions suited to the hotel market. The help from FiiRE Incubation Centre, which focuses on tourist technology in Goa, as well as the events hosted by the Goa Startup Mission, promoted networking and provided vital insights into the local industry,” Malladad stated.
Women in India’s Startup Ecosystem Report (WISER)
The Women in India’s Startup Ecosystem Report (WISER) shows a significant growth in women-led companies across the country, with 18% between 2017 and 2021. This rise reflects a broader trend of rising female entrepreneurship in India, with Goa playing a prominent role.

The Goa government has encouraged young entrepreneurs to prosper. “With their startup policy, more women will enter the startup ecosystem,” Raikar stated.

To empower more young innovators and female entrepreneurs, the SITPC is collaborating with the design community through projects like as the Goa Startup Yatra, Startup Goa workshops, masterclasses, Founder’s Club, corporate startup events, and First Friday.
