According to an official notice, economist Suman K. Bery will continue to serve as vice-chairperson of NITI Aayog, alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The full-time members of the government think tank, which include macroeconomist Arvind Virmani, physicist V.K. Saraswat, agricultural economist Ramesh Chand, and pediatrician V.K. Paul, will also remain in place.

NITI Aayog approved by the Prime Minister

The announcement also disclosed the Prime Minister’s approved revisions to NITI Aayog’s membership. Union Ministers Rajnath Singh (Defence), Amit Shah (Home), Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Agriculture), and Nirmala Sitharaman (Finance) are the four ex-officio members. A number of Union Ministers have also been designated as special invitees. These are Jagat Prakash Nadda (Health), H.D. Kumaraswamy (Heavy Industries and Steel), Jitan Ram Manjhi (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), Rajiv Ranjan Singh, often known as Lalan Singh (Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying), and Nitin Gadkari (Road Transport and Highways).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains the chairperson

An official statement states that economist Suman K. Bery would continue to serve as vice-chairperson of NITI Aayog and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as chairperson.The government think-tank will still employ scientist V K Saraswat, agricultural economist Ramesh Chand, pediatrician V K Paul, and macroeconomist Arvind Virmani full-time.

Union Ministers Virendra Kumar (Social Justice and Empowerment), Rao Inderjit Singh (Statistics and Programme Implementation), Jual Oram (Tribal Affairs), Annpurna Devi (Women and Child Development), Chirag Paswan (Food Processing Industries), and Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu (Civil Aviation) are among the other special invitees. A variety of political groups are represented by the special invitees, which include Paswan from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Kumaraswamy from the NDA partner JD-S, Manjhi from Hindustani Awam Morcha, Singh from JD-U, and Naidu from the TDP.
