Anitha Vangalapudi, the home minister for Andhra Pradesh, chastised the YSR Congress party on Thursday, July 25, for their remarks on a widely shared video that showed students at Sri Subbaraya and Narayana College in Andhra Pradesh being attacked by seniors during NCC ragging.

Response to opposition allegation

Vangalapudi responded to the opposition’s allegations on X (formerly Twitter) that the law and order situation under the TDP government was getting worse. The Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu requested a probe under the Prohibition of Ragging Act, she stated, however the incident happened in February 2024, during the previous YSRCP administration.

TDP leaders asked YSRCP

The leader of the TDP asked the YSRCP to desist from disseminating false information and blaming the current administration for problems that transpired while they were in office. We’re trying to get everything back to normal. The YSRCP has a track record of leveling unfounded allegations and drawing criticism. Anyone found guilty of breaking the law will face strict consequences, she declared.

One person in Custody

Following the incident, one person was taken into custody and six people were identified. The incident occurred in February, according to police reports, but none of the victims reported it because they were afraid of reprisals.

One Town Police Station’s Krishna Reddy, a police inspector, urged anyone who had been the victim of ragging at the college or elsewhere to come forward, promising that the offenders would face harsh consequences.
