As winter intensifies, the District Magistrate of Lucknow, Surya Pal Gangwar, has issued an order declaring a winter break for schools. The directive mandates the closure of all schools up to Class 8 until January 18. However, schools catering to students from Class 9 to Intermediate will continue their regular operations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to the directive from the Lucknow District Magistrate, all government, non-government, and private schools up to Class 8 are closed until January 18, 2024. For students in classes 9 to Intermediate, schools will remain open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this period, schools are encouraged to conduct online classes for students in classes 9 to 12 whenever feasible. In instances of physical classes, stringent measures are mandated to ensure students’ protection from the cold, including the use of heaters in classrooms.

Lucknow’s DM, Surya Pal Gangwar, has emphasized that students in classes 9 to 12 should not be exposed to outdoor sessions, including classes, practicals, or exams during this period. The obligation for students to wear uniforms has been temporarily discontinued, with a recommendation for students to wear warm clothes that provide adequate protection against the cold while attending school.

The announcement of the winter break comes as dense to very dense fog was reported over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning.
