Unyielding Heatwave in Bengaluru

As Bengaluru grapples with sweltering temperatures akin to a heatwave, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts no respite from the scorching heat. According to the latest weather predictions, the maximum temperature is expected to soar to 38 degrees Celsius, maintaining the persistent heatwave-like conditions in the city.

Record-Breaking Temperatures

On Sunday, Bengaluru experienced its second-highest temperatures in recorded history, with the mercury soaring to 38.5 degrees Celsius. This marked a significant deviation from the city’s typically mild climate, reminiscent of April 2016 when temperatures peaked at 39.2 degrees Celsius.

Continued Heatwave in Bengaluru

The relentless rise in temperature is a cause for concern among Bengaluru residents, with the city recording a substantial increase of 4.4 degrees Celsius above the normal temperature on April 28. IMD’s weather forecast indicates minimal change in the weather pattern, with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 38 degrees Celsius.

Weather Outlook for Karnataka

Dry weather prevails across Karnataka, with several regions experiencing appreciably above normal temperatures. Heatwave-like conditions are anticipated in various cities across the state, including Bidar, Gulbarga, Bijapur, Yadgir, Raichur, and more. Hot and humid weather is expected to persist in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttar Kannada districts, with temperatures rising by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next 4-5 days.

Historic Temperature Records

April 28 marked the second-hottest day in Bengaluru’s history, surpassing previous temperature records dating back five decades. With temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius in the coming days, residents brace themselves for intensified heatwave conditions. The city previously recorded its highest temperature of 38 degrees Celsius on April 25, 2016.

As Bengaluru grapples with unprecedented heatwave-like conditions, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to combat the scorching temperatures. The IMD’s weather forecast underscores the importance of staying hydrated and seeking shelter from the heat. Despite the challenges posed by the soaring temperatures, Bengaluru residents remain resilient in the face of adverse weather conditions.
