Introduction: NCRTC’s Green Initiative
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has taken a significant step towards sustainable transportation with the inauguration of its first Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station at the Sahibabad Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) station in Ghaziabad. This initiative underscores NCRTC’s commitment to reducing its ecological footprint and promoting clean energy solutions.
Operational EV Charging Station
The newly operational EV charging station, located at gate number 1 of the Sahibabad RRTS station, offers a comprehensive range of charging units tailored to accommodate various electric vehicle models. This development marks a milestone in NCRTC’s efforts to facilitate last-mile connectivity and promote the adoption of electric vehicles.
Fast and Convenient Charging
One of the key features of the EV charging station is its fast charging facility, enabling users to charge their four-wheelers in just one hour. Additionally, the station offers slow charging options, allowing users to charge their four-wheelers in three hours and two-wheelers in one and a half hours. This flexibility caters to the diverse needs of electric vehicle owners, ensuring convenience and accessibility.
Payment Flexibility
Users of the EV charging station can conveniently pay for the electricity consumed on a unit-wise basis through a dedicated mobile application. The station also offers online payment options, providing users with added flexibility and convenience. This streamlined payment process enhances the overall user experience, making electric vehicle charging hassle-free.
Future Expansion Plans
In line with its commitment to sustainable transportation, NCRTC plans to extend EV charging facilities to other operational RRTS stations in the near future. Stations including Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, and Modi Nagar North will soon offer electric vehicle charging services, further promoting the adoption of clean energy solutions in the region.
NCRTC’s Eco-Friendly Initiatives
NCRTC has been at the forefront of promoting eco-friendly transportation solutions since the inception of India’s first regional rail project implementation. In addition to EV charging stations, NCRTC has adopted a solar policy aimed at harnessing renewable energy sources. By generating approximately 11 MW peak of in-house solar power over the next five years, NCRTC aims to reduce its reliance on conventional energy sources and contribute to India’s solar mission.
