In line with the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu’s (SIPCOT) industrial innovation and scale-up initiative, Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa recently granted funds to 14 companies. The objective of this project is to promote industrial growth and innovation in the state by focusing on startups and MSMEs.
Grantees and Grant Distribution
Welkinrim Technologies, Unibose Technology, Raptee Energy, Fabheads Automation, Jidoka Technologies, Tomgo Agro Machines, Suzhiyam Industrial Machines, and Yali Aerospace are a few of the organizations that received these awards. The awards differ according to each startup’s stage of growth and the eligibility classification chosen by an assessment committee. Members of this committee include representatives from the private start-up incubator/accelerator Forge, the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (TANSIM), and SIPCOT as well as other industry specialists.
Application and Evaluation Process
Applications from companies and innovators working on deep-tech solutions in a variety of industries, including industrial, aerospace, defense, sustainability, and urban tech, were invited for the SIPCOT Industrial and Innovation Centre (SIIC) funding. Product development, pilot deployments, pilot production, and product commercialization are the main areas of emphasis for these programs.
The evaluation committee made sure that only the most creative and promising startups were awarded funds by carefully evaluating all of the applications. The SIPCOT board authorized SIIC awards in 2023, which would be distributed over two years and total ₹3.8 crore. These awards are a part of a larger initiative to assist the state’s startup community and promote innovation-driven economic growth.
With a total investment of ₹33.5 crore, SIICs have been developed at the SIPCOT industrial parks in Hosur and Sriperumbudur. These centers’ technology partner is the Coimbatore Innovation and Business Incubator (CIBI), popularly known as Forge. Startups may access product labs, co-working spaces, and other crucial tools thanks to the SIICs. There are currently 12 startups and 22 MSMEs housed in the Sriperumbudur and Hosur centers, respectively.
